Colorful Words

I have read some blogs lately where the author feels the need to curse.  Why?  Do I curse … yes, daily, but that does not mean I like it.  In writing, however, we have the ability to edit our words.  In conversation, obviously, once the word leaves your mouth, it’s out there.

To me, if you feel the need to curse in your writing – other than in creating real dialogue between characters – you are weakening your argument.  You are showing that you have no filter or at least you lack the ability to google synonyms that will get your point across with just as much conviction.

It’s lazy.  It gives a glimpse into who you are: a person who wants to say something but lacks real substance and thought to actually debate your point with value and clarity.  It destroys your credibility.

Most of all, it just makes you look silly.
